A couple of things...

Hi there,
A couple of things are puzzling me, and I'd love to hear your expert
opinion.
1. There seems to be a slight (?) problem with the mailing lists.
I receive *several* digest mails every day. They contain 2 compilations,
one of them a duplicate of an earlier distributed digest.
The archives (e.g. http://java.sun.com/archives/hotjava-interest/) haven't
been updated since 20 August and are way too big - they should be split
up in 'old' and 'new' sections.
Is Sun aware of these problems?
2. I have an applet on the Web
(http://cosmos.imag.fr/MAGMA/vanaeken/mizzWeb95/mizz.html) that allows
users to set a couple of parameters and to have them automatically mailed
to me.
The applet seems to work just fine on Solaris platforms: I've received mails
from different people. A friend of mine in Brussels, however, who uses
the Win95 version can't get the applet to send me the data mail. Confusingly,
there is no error message...
Is this a known problem (with the Win95 version, for example), or should he
check his configuration (the security settings for example)?
N.B. The mail is sent by opening a SMTP stream handler.
3. I am working on a support system for conversations on the Web.
The implementation is based on a custom protocol handler.
Question (keeping my fingers crossed): is Netscape going to support
protocol handlers written in Java? If so, are they going to support dynamic
downloading of handlers (which seems not to be supported by the current HJ
version)?
4. I love HotJava. I think it's well specified for the important niche
of applications-for-the-Web. Yes, it's a shame the docs aren't any better.
I guess we all learned Java by looking at other people's sources. It seems
to be a pitfall of doc-generating programs to end up with lots of
*documentation* holding very little *information*.
Has Sun people working on the docs?
Cheers, F.
