I believe I saw somewhere that Sun has stated they are working on porting
Java to Solaris x86.

1. Is that true?

2. What is the schedule?

We are Solaris developers/consultants trying to sell Solaris - mainly over
WIndows NT. I find it "ironic" that there appears to be more Windows NT
support for Java/HotJava than there is for Solaris x86.

[Moderator: Solaris x86 is not one of the Java group's promised ports,
but we have done preliminary work on it and are enlisting resources
within Sun to help. Of course, that doesn't preclude someone else
from downloading the sources and doing the port! One way or another,
when it is available it will be announced in the mailing lists and
on our home pages. There is plenty of interest in a Solaris x86 port,
but it is crucial for the success of our project that we show strong,
early commitment to cross-platform delivery and consistency.]
