I have Java applet that needs to open up TCP sockets that runs
in hotjava alpha3.

I'm switching over the the beta1 API, and have gotten the big neg
from appletview (a security exception) when the applet gets ready
to open up a socket.

How do I turn the paranoid mode off?

Also, in the new AWT libraries, I've noticed that the access to instance
variables has all but disappeared. Why the shift?

When a menu item is selected, what is the best way of getting ahold
of the frame that it is attached to?
