Count me in. I have migrated my "Vector Graphics" applet, and put it with
the others (alpha3) at http://www-elec.enst.fr/java.html. I have also done
the TickerTape and am working hard on migrating an "Embedded Applets"
applet.
A few ideas:
- Any application (beyond very simple ones) consists of lots of class files.
Maybe we should agree on a bundling method for easy exchange ? I am not
satisfied with *.tar.gz.uue.
- The examples should be described in a few lines saying what concepts they
demonstrating, e.g. "cell/view abstraction with zoom", "rubberbanding with
xor mode", "use of Canvas and Panel in a hierarchical applet", etc.
The java team did not do it for the JDK preBeta and it is a pain.
- A repository should not be limited to "sample code, examples, or Java
documents". It would be great if people accepted to share their basic
components and classes. Sliders, fancy buttons and checkboxes, new layout
managers and a quad-tree class are things that come to my mind, and that
Sun would not want to do. Which boils down to "not only code to learn from,
but also code to use without looking".
