The applet demos that I have seen for HotJava don't seem to have any
multi-user interraction. I could download a game like Tic-Tac-Toe or Hangman
and play it locally without HotJava so what's the point? (I know, it's just
a demo) The point is there isn't a practical reason for using Java for this
type of application.
My Question:
Does HotJava allow the designing of true multi-user, interractive applets that
would allow web surfers to communicate real-time or play multi-user games?
If I could allow my guests to play (for example) a 4 player poker game from
within my web site I could tremendously increase my traffic. Is this viable?
Would it be difficult? I think I could do it right now with CGI however the
problem lies in forcing screen refreshes. Server push may work but if
HotJava can do the above it might be a more worthwhile platform.
