hi all,
un momento away from all the operator overloading talk, por favor... :)
i've spent a fair amount of time at the sun java web site, run through the
little tutorial, gleaned _some_ sense out of the API pages, blah, blah,
blah, but have had little success in creating (or even finding) a simple
little applet to make a hello world button appear on the hotjava browser.
my background is lots of cgi, perl, c, some MOTIF (thank god, or the api
pages would have been meaningless to me), and a little c++. now, the question
is how do i get there from here? i see the javaheads saying c++ers go back
to c++ instead of trying to remake java in c++'s image, but the question
is (restated) if you're not coming from a c++ background into java (which i
don't want to do, though i understand a little of OOP), what other (more
efficient, i hope) path is there?
please forgive the interuption. we now return control of your monitor to
the regularly scheduled discussion...
thanks much,
bruce
