As the White House later admitted, segregation has been eliminated in
only a few dozen South African restaurants and hotels throughout the
whole country. The Group Areas Act, segregating the areas where
blacks, whites, Indians, and mixed-race South Africans can live, is
still in effect. Rest rooms, cemeteries, and most beaches are also
still segregated.
