Unfortunately, my group's meetings are on Wednesdays at noon, so that
means I can't resume volunteering for animal rehabilitation work for
the Wednesday day shift at the Marine Mammal Center, which I was
hoping I'd be able to do now that I'm back in the S.F. Bay Area.
Subsidized soda machines are a cheap way for a company to improve
engineer productivity. :)
Real furniture is expensive. Having lived in furnished dormitory
rooms for the last five years, I'm learning all at once how much it
costs to furnish an apartment.
Having an unreliable car is a major psychological burden. Everytime I
park somewhere, I wonder if the car will start again. Oh well, the
problems are getting ironed out one by one, and having AAA membership
helps with the psychological burden part.
I miss backrubs. (Both giving and receiving them.)
I needed to fetch some files from ftp.netcom.com. It was during the
middle of the day, and it took 18 retries to connect anonymously.
Then the transfers were as slow as 50 bytes per second. Impressive.
I think I'll stay away from Netcom.
Cable TV costs entirely too much.
*.answers seems to be in reasonably good shape at the moment. But, we
need to move on to all sorts of tasks that have been put off.

and try to be social.
