mwhitson (Michael Whitson):
DETERIORATA
Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there
may be in owning a piece thereof. Avoid quiet and passive persons,
unless you are in need of sleep. Rotate your tires. Speak glowingly
of those greater than yourself, and heed well their advice, even
though they be turkeys. Know what to kiss, and when. Consider that
two wrongs never make a right, but that three do. Wherever possible,
put people on hold. Be comforted, that in the face of all aridity and
disillusionment, and despite the changing fortunes of time, there is
always a big future in computer maintenance.
Remember the Pueblo. Strive at all times to fold, bend, spindle, and
mutilate. Know yourself. If you need help, call the F.B.I. Exercise
caution in your daily affairs, especially with those persons closest
to you; that lemon on your left, for instance. Be assured that a walk
through the ocean of most souls will scarcely get your feet wet. Fall
not in love therefore; it will stick to your face. Gracefully
surrender the things of youth; birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan. And
let not the sand of time get into your lunch. Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken. Take heart in the
deepening gloom that your dog is finally getting enough cheese. And
reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot, it could only be
worse in Milwaukee.
You are a fluke of the universe. You have no right to be here. And
whether you can hear it or not, the universe is laughing behind your
back.
Therefore, make peace with your god, whatever you conceive him to be
-- hairy bumbler or cosmic muffin. With all its hopes, dreams,
promises, and urban renewal, the world continues to deteriorate.
Give up.

One vampire is much easier to kill than ten."

GRIP-TOP SOCK
Give me the gift of a grip-top sock,
A clip-drake shipshape tip-top sock;
Not your spin-slick, slapstick, slip-shod stock,
But a plastic, elastic grip-top sock.
None of your fantastic slack swap slop
From a slapdash, flash-cash haberdash shop;
Not a knick-knack, knitlock, knock-kneed knickerbocker sock,
With a mock-shot, blob-mottled trick-ticker-tock clock;
Not a rucked-up, puckered-up flop-top sock;
Not a super-sheer, seersucker rucksack sock;
Not a spotspeckled, frog-freckled cheap sheik's sock
Off a hodge-podge, moss-blotched, scotch-botched block;
Nothing slip-shod, drip-drop, flip-flop or glip-glop:
Tip me to a tip-top, grip-top sock!

-- FAQ --
Ok, I _finally_ got some questions. Here are the most frequent / best.
What colour is your hair?
Dark brown.
Which is your favourite Muppet?
When I first started watching the Muppet Show, it was Fozzie Bear.
Although, now it's Beaker.
Why doesn't anyone ever ask you questions about yourself; are you
that transparent, or just so quiet no one notices to ask?
I am pretty quiet, but I think that the real reason nobody ever asks
me questions about myself is that I'm very obvious. A person takes
one look at me, or reads one of my messages, and he immediately knows
all there is to know about me. And it's usually more than he cares to
know.
What is the meaning of life, and why aren't any of the walls here
painted anything but dull white?
The meaning of life is 42. (It's been suggested that this answer must
be interpreted in base 13 for it to make any sense.) All of the walls
here are painted dull white so that they almost match the Boston sky.
You'll be happy to know that the person who decided on this color was
immediately tarred and feathered.
Who invented gummy candy and what were they on?
Gummy (gummi) candy was invented by Sir Frederick Q. Gummi, of London,
England, in 1547. Sir Gummi was a hopeless NyQuil addict. However,
gummi candy has been widely regarded as one of the greatest inventions
in the history of food. (Other great food inventions include
chocolate and Mary Chung's suan-la-chow-show. A common idea
throughout history has been to try to combine two great food
inventions, thus creating the single greatest food invention ever.
Hundreds of people have tried and failed to create gummi chocolate.
And one person once tried to create gummi suan-la-chow-show. He was
immediately tarred and feathered.)
Thanks to everyone who wrote. Keep those questions coming! Send 'em
to <svalente@mit.edu>. The best ones will be posted in a future
.plan. The easiset ones will be answered.

therese (Therese):
We were friends who rode the waves
The time we spent in our younger days
Was all in fun,.. oh the good times that we had.
We were young and it was fine
To feel your spirit as it climbed
There're no regrets
Only good times
We were friends in younger days
Although we went our separate ways
You were my friend, you never turned away
Who can say what life will do
Life is kind to just a few
There're no regrets
Only good times
In time we will grow, we will change
As free as the wind and the waves
Live your life the way you choose
Find the ones who'll laugh with you
Like the sea
will find its way to shore
As the sun sinks from the sky,
Live your life and you will find
There're no regrets
Only good times ....
