jcbourne (Juliet C Bourne):
There in my darkest hour, Somehow you knew what I felt
And just in the nick of time you saved me from myself
Didn't know I could cut through my defenses / And see through the mask
I figured you must want something from me, But you never asked
I just had to call and you were always there
I think you must have been the answer to my prayer

yandros (Chad Phillip Brown):
Hohum.
Well, it was an intersting week. Here's the new short description:
wow. wow. wow. ow. repeat.
I got to spend time with people I hadn't spent a lot of time with
before, and had some good food and some good conversation and
generally a good time. In fact, I think I'll change my mind on the
short description:
nice
The only problem (that's a lie; it's not even close to the only
problem, but it's the one I'm going to mention here and now) is that
I didn't get a lot of work done during the week, so I'll be busy
over the weekend.
So, I mentioned work (that is, DCNS work), and I'm finding that a
lot of people lately have been asking me what I'm doing, so I'll
just explain here.
Right now I'm finishing up a server for Bruce Lewis that runs next
to (but doesn't interfere with) the Test Tracker/Version Server
system. It's called `The Judge', and once it's finished it'll take
regexp- and range-based queries over the net and return some stats
it generates from the input and the version server/test tracker
logfiles (actually, it does that now, but the stats aren't quite
right and there's a memory handling problem in my linked list code
still. oops. :-/). If you're still interested after all that, ask
me for details.
Once that's done (soon! Really! I mean it!) I'll be working with
Craig Fields on `bug fixes to the Athena environment', which is a
pretty nebulous term, but there are some cool possibilites for
things to work on `out there', like maybe working on making the
OLC/OLTA systems die less often. Looking forward to it.
What else? Oh, right before I could talk to people about playing
pickup Ultimate on Wednessday afternoons (since people were
complaining about Friday being overloaded), someone else sent mail
about the MIT Ultimate team having pickup games on Wednessday. MIT
Team pickup is cool, especially if you're serious about the game,
but if you'd still like to see a more relaxed game on Wednesdays,
let me know and I'll see if I can coordinate something.
Aside from ultimate, Patrol is still happening, of course (and we
have new headbands, courtesy of Classic Mike (for which everyone
should thank him), and I'm actually not doing as badly as I used to.
It's about time. :-) That gives ultimate three times a week (MWF)
and patrol once (Sat), which leaves some days open still. :-) I'll
be going biking on Tuesdays and thursdays if I ever get my bike
dealt with... hmmm, I should do that soon. Other that than, I'm
thinking about swimming and/or running and/or weight training,
possibly early (whatever `early' turns out to mean) in the mornings,
and I'd like to get in some rapelling or climbing this summer, so if
you'd like to take me, let me know. :-)
Random things... my workstation took the 7.7 beta release and
mostly survived (xlogin is more boring now)... I [re]built lucid
emacs 19 for the decmips and sun, but AFS ate some of my files and I
haven't had a chance to go see what I need to do about it yet...
Kevin's visiting, which is very cool, and he'll be here for July
4th, which is even cooler. What else? I saw my cat a couple times
this week, and she wasn't insanely hyper either time.
Less random, I spent a lot of time thinking about
{what,where,who,why} I want to {do,be [with]} and how I want to get
there from where I am (whereever that is :-). I got a better look
at how things are flowing around this place and I got a better look
at how I'm handling it (although not everyone really belives that,
I'm sure). I got to feel some butterflies. I got to eat some good
Italian food and some bad Italian food. I got to watch and help as
a friend changed into a close friend and then got to help her pack
her car so she could move to California by way of Florida. And
although I think most people realize that I'll miss her, I don't
think anyone will understand why. So be it; I feel like my life is
changed and changing, and I don't feel oblidged to explain
everything to everyone and any time, so there. :-)
And it was raining when she left.
Goodbye, and good luck. For you and me both.

Now all of the planes have landed
And the soldiers are in there beds
Smoke rises from their clothing
And sweet dreams through their heads
Truth faced leaves a strange taste
When joy and sadness meet
A country rain on a city street
This life is bittersweet
The boy with the bloated belly
Hears todays trucks arrive
He puts down his baby sister
and makes his way outside
Truth faced leaves a strange taste
When joy and sadness meet
A country rain on a city street
This life is bittersweet
Everyone's a novelist
And everyone can sing
But no one talks when the TV's on...
The lightning flashed, and the thunder rolled
Dark clouds filled the sky
A country rain on a city street
This life is bittersweet
