I am not the only person who uses his computer mainly for
the purpose of diddling with his computer. There are millions of
others. I know this, because I encounter them on the Internet,
which is a giant international network of intelligent, informed
computer enthusiasts, by which I mean, "people without lives."

LSC Movies for the week of Feb 11 to Feb 13
Fri. Feb 11 Orlando [PG] 26-100 7 & 10
Taken from Virginia Woolf's novel by the same name, this film chronicles
the experiences of Orlando, first encountered as a dashing young
nobleman, then suddenly as a woman, presiding over the salons of
18th-century London. For reasons that require no explanation, Orlando
neither dies nor ages, but explores the arbitrariness of sexual roles.
Fri. Feb 11 The Maltese Falcon [???] 10-250 7:30
This time, Bogie plays Dashiell Hammett's unforgettable private eye
Sam Spade. He wears his usual sneer and a snappy collection of felt
hats. Greenstreet slavers and drools with greed, and Peter Lorre
mutters in his own inimitable way, "Look what you did to my shirt."
One of the finest detective stories ever filmed. It is considered by
many to be the first authentic film noir. Directed by John Huston
(1941, 35mm print).
Sat. Feb 12 Dazed and Confused [R] 26-100 7 & 10
Wow, man! It's, like, the funky 70s again, and the kids are all right.
Richard Linklater writes and directs this surprisingly complex and
non-judgmental look at a 1976 high school graduation, which asks some
interesting questions about education, tedium, victimization, dope and
youth culture. See it with a bud.
Sun. Feb 13 Say Anything [PG-13] 10-250 7 & 10
This gentle romantic comedy about love, honesty, and family values stars
John Cusack as a sensitive nonconformist who falls in love with the
prettiest--and brightest--girl (Ione Skye) in the senior class. When she
discovers that her father is not as perfect as she thought, a conflict
develops, threatening her relationships with both the men she loves.

magnus (Daniel R Risacher):
"Emacs is not an editor. Emacs is a way of thinking about the world, and
as such is a way of thinking about editors. The process of editing is Emacs,
but Emacs is more than the process of editing. When you ask what Emacs does,
you are asking a question with no answer, because Emacs doesn't do, it is
done to. Emacs just is. ... I hope this makes things clearer."

ANGEL OF THE MORNING
There'll be no strings to bind your hands
not if my love can't bind your heart.
And there's no need to take a stand
for it was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home,
I'm old enough to face the dawn.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away from me.
Maybe the sun's light will be dim
and it won't matter anyhow.
If morning's echo says we ve sinned,
well, it was what I wanted now.
And if we're the victims of the night,
I won't be blinded by light.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away,
I won't beg you to stay with me
through the tears of the day,
of the years, baby baby baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
