abbe (Abbe J Cohen):

My hands were all shaky,
My face had gone pale.
A letter from santa
just arrived in the mail!

It was hand-written
In old-fasioned ink pen.
It was handsomely printed
And dated twelve ten.

"Dear Calvin," it said
"I'm writing because
This year I've repealed
My 'naughty/nice' laws.

So now I urge you:
Be vulgar and crude!
I *like* it when children
Are boorish and rude!

Burp at the table!
Gargle your peas!
Never say 'Thank you',
'You're welcome,' or 'please.'

Talk back to your mother!
Don't do as you're told!
Stick your tongue out
At your dad if he scolds!

Drive everyone crazy,
I really don't care!
Act like a jerk,
Anytime, Anywhere!

I'm changing the rules!
The *bad* girls and boys
Will be, from now on,
The ones who get toys!

Good little kids make
me sick, it's no joke.
Sincerely, Signed Santa."
...And then I awoke.

LSC Movies for the week of Feb 4 to Feb 6

Fri.	Feb 4	Loaded Weapon I [R]	26-100	7 & 10
Emilio Estevez is a loose-cannon maverick cop, distraught over his dogUs
death. He is teamed with a by-the-book police detective to find the
fiends behind a scheme to funnel cocaine into innocent hands in the form
of "Wilderness Girl" cookies. This movie spoofs the Lethal Weapon
series, as well as many other buddy-cop movies.

Fri.	Feb 4	The African Queen [???]	10-250	7:30
We begin our tribute to Humphrey Bogart with African Queen. Bogart,
the gin-drinking river trader, plays opposite Katherine Hepburn, the
prim missionary, (could you see Bogart as a prim missionary?), and
they together survive the dangers of treacherous river. A splendidly
successful mixture of comedy, character, and adventure. Directed by
John Huston (1951, 35mm print)

Sat.	Feb 5	Manhattan Murder Mystery	[PG]	26-100	7 & 10
Woody Allen and Diane Keaton are back together in this puckish satire of
contemporary mor\'es. Keaton is suspicious of the nice man down the hall,
and is anxious to go snooping. Woody is suspicious of Keaton's best
friend (Alan Alda) and is anxious to go snooping. A clever, funny
mystery with Woody and Keaton at their bumbling best. If you have never
seen a Woody Allen film, and especially if you have, see this one.

Sun.	Feb 6	Dead Poets Society [PG]	10-250	7 & 10
Robin Williams stars as a liberal English teacher at an
ultra-conservative prep school in the late 1950s. Director Peter Weir
(Witness, Gallipoli) captures the passion and spirit of a dedicated
teacher who inspires his students to choose the freedom of individuality
and to reject the repression of conformity.
