I work with this Argentinian woman. She speaks English fairly well, but
she has a heavy accent and is often at a loss for. . .uh. . .a loss for. . .
uh. . .she can't think of the word she's trying to remember.
                --Larry Goldfinger CMU '95

Fun in court- a woman is rear-ended in a busy intersection and is suing. The
testimony:

Her attorney: Where you driving the car or were you a passenger?
The woman: I was a passenger.
The attorney: Was anyone else in the car?
The woman: No.

Her doctor testifies:

Attorney: She didn't have a neck spasm, is that correct?
Doctor: Right.
Attorney: What does that indicate?
Doctor: No spasm.
Attorney: No, well, what I want to know is, if she did have a neck spasm,
          what would that indicate?
Doctor: Spasm.

"Jane, you-ignorant-slut. Hopping-from-bed-to-bed-with-the-frequency-
of-a-cheap-ham-radio, I'm-not-surprised-when-you're-on-your-back-
the-meter-is-running."
-- Dan Ackroyd to Jane Curtain.

"Honey, would you still love me if I were burned beyond recognition?"
"I'd love you MORE!"

"My daddy taught me everything I need to know about handling the Fuzz."
-- Friend, minutes before being ticketed for speeding

"Ah-ha! A man of many talents; athlete, soldier, pilot,
statesman...and many names. In France -- Jaques Duval. In Germany --
Friedrich Schmidt. In Canada -- John White. Code name Uriel. A
valuable man, who kept valuable secrets. A man who shook hands that
shook the world.
Here in the Village he was simply known as Number 6."

New York, New York, it's a hell of a town,
The Bronx is up and the Bowery's down
The mimes are food for the bums underground
New Yawk New Yaawwwk....
--Sam, _Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple_"

Max: That's a cute song, Sam. I don't recognize it.

Sam: It's from one of my favorite musicals, Max. It's
about a quaint French circus that comes to town and
is immediately cannibalized by the local mole men.
--Sam & Max, _Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple_

"And that was what Alai had given him; a gift so sacred even Ender was
not allowed to understand what it meant." --OSC, _Ender's Game_

nlgilman (Nancy L Gilman):

Oh, my soul
Sometimes we don't know what to do
We work so hard
Being tough on our own
But now it's me and you
Let's give it up
Sad bones
'Cause we all fall on hard times
But you don't have to stand up all alone
Just put you hand in mine

Climb on
A back that's strong
Hey hey
You can git' what you want
Climb on
A back that's strong

If you could save me a place in heaven
With a clean well-lighted room
I'll muscle up to Armageddon
And I'll wave to you darlin'
Be home soon
And if you could show me
The story of love
I would write it
Again and again
And then you could be
The woman you need
If you just let me be
The man that I am

Climb on
A back that's strong
Hey hey
You can git' what you want
Climb on
A back that's strong

Oh, I don't know
Sometimes we try too hard to see
But we got one down
One more to go
That's when you say
To me

Climb on
A back that's strong
Hey hey
You can git' what you want
Climb on
A back that's strong

(repeat)

Climb On ... Shawn Colvin
