LSC Movies for the week of Apr 2 to Apr 4
Fri. Apr 2 Blade Runner - The Director's Cut [R] 26-100 7 & 10
Harrison Ford is a blade runner. His job is to hunt down and kill
escaped replicants. The movie is a mix of futuristic moral dilemmas and
outstandingly performed violence. This version is even more powerful
than the first. If you have seen the original then you must see the new
and improved version. If you haven't seen the original, why not?
Fri. Apr 2 Notorious (1946) [???] 10-250 7:30
Alfred Hitchcock found the perfect leading man in Cary Grant, making
four films with him. This one is perhaps the best, a tale of intrigue,
danger, and romance. Can an American agent protect the spy he loves
when she infiltrates a Nazi gang by marrying one of its members? Also
featuring Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains.
Sat. Apr 3 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels [PG] 26-100 7 & 10
Michael Caine stars as Lawrence Jamison, a suave, stylish con man who
poses as a deposed prince raising funds to free the people of his
stricken homeland. Freddy Benson (Steve Martin) is a small-time scam
artist who wants to work the same territory. It turns out that the town
they're in isn't big enough for the two of them, so they make a bet: the
first to extract $50,000 from the next woman they meet wins and the
loser leaves town.
Sun. Apr 4 The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai:
Across the 8th Dimension [PG] 10-250 7 & 10
Peter Weller stars as a top neurosurgeon, race car driver, physicist,
cult figure and comic book hero who is plunged into heart-stopping
adventure when he breaks into the eighth dimension. Also stars John
Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum, and Christopher Lloyd. This cult
classic was directed by W.D. Richter.
