The U.S. Army transferred Sergeant Major Jimmy A. Powell from his ROTC
duties at Northern Michigan University after he bit the head off a live
chicken and drank the bird's blood during a military-science class.
Powell's commanding officer said that such actions were appropriate for
field survival training but not for the classroom.
