Um, Chris, as far as can tell, I think you'll have to buy a couple of
additional machines if you want to run Plan 9. It's a distributed
operating system which separates the tasks of file serving, CPU serving,
and windowing. The minimal Plan 9 system must contain at least three
seperate machines: a CPU server, which just provides cycles, a
fileserver, which just stores files, and a blit terminal, which just
runs the windows. The fileserver can't run arbitrary programs and has
only console access for rudimentary maintenance. The CPU server can't
store files, and the terminal is, well, a terminal. There are some
documents that I got by anonymous ftp from research.att.com, currently
in frozen postscript files in /mit/watchmaker/src/rc/plan9docs.
