LSC Movies for the weekend of Nov 6 to Nov 8
Fri. Nov. 6 Delicatessen [unrated] 26-100 7 & 10
The end of the world came and went, and you're still around.
Unfortunately, cows, chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, vegetables, fruits
and grain aren't. So if your landlord starts cutting up other tenants
and selling them for food, do you object? Or do you just try to keep
on his good side? And what happens when his daughter falls in love
with you? Possibly the nicest cannibal movie ever made. In French,
with English subtitles.
Fri. Nov. 6 High Noon (1952) [???] 10-250 7:30
A marshal has to defend his town against the bad guys (black hats),
but gets no help from outside. One of the best Westerns ever. The
sci-fi movie Outland was based on this film---come see if you can
tell. Gary Cooper, Grace Kelley, Lloyd Bridges and Lon Chaney.
Sat. Nov. 7 Alien^3 [R] 26-100 7 & 10
In this episode, Ripley has crashed on a decommissioned prison
planet---unfortunately, she seems to have brought an Alien with her.
Of course, as a decommissioned prison planet, this place has lots of
unsavory characters, but no {\it weapons}. Necessity is the mother of
invention$\ldots$ Lots of good special effects, lots of dark wet
crawly places, Aliens falling through the ceiling, and Sigourney
Weaver with no hair. Hey, what more could you ask for?
Sun. Nov. 8 Lethal Weapon [R] 10-250 7 & 10
You know you're having a bad day when your new partner (Mel Gibson)
jumps out of a hotel window to arrest a bad guy and handcuffs himself
to a suicidal man who wants to jump off a building. The automatic
weapons fire doesn't help your mood, either. Danny Glover also stars
as the cautious veteran cop who turns out to be Gibson's friend and
ideal teammate. Directed by Richard Donner.

therese (Therese):
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
People.
People important to you, people unimportant to you cross your
life. Touch it with love and carelessness and move on.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief
and wonder why you ever came into contact with them.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of remorse
and wonder why they had to go away and leave such a gaping hole.
Children leave parents; friends leave friends, acquaintances
grow apart.
Enemies hate and move on.
Friends love and move on.
You think of the many who have moved into your hazy memory.
You look on those present and wonder.
I believe in God's master plan in life. He moves people in and
out of each other's lives, and each leaves his mark on the
other. You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who
ever touched your life, and you are more because of it, and you
would be less if they had not touched you.
Pray to God that you accept the bits and pieces, in humility and
wonder, and never question and never regret.
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
