The KREL Anthem
The KREL campaign was one of the highlights of the decade. The
introduction of KREL in 1981 changed buying patterns everywhere, and
shocked advertisers with its unorthodox marketing techniques. Here is
the KREL theme, as originally heard on Superbowl Sunday 1981.
When the Sun comes up on America,
And the workin' day's begun,
American Folks at American Jobs
Make this country run.
From the highways to the mountains,
Where the mighty rivers flow,
Across the land, the building hands
Are making America grow.
We're here and we know why --
Because we do the things we do.
(And we know we do them well!)
In a world that turns to America,
America turns to KREL!
(for information on how you can own a profitable KREL franchise

leira (Rev. Linda L. Julien):
Morris dancing is a ritual tradition that has been handed up to
father from son (or to mother from daughter) for hundreds if not
thousands of years. Dances with similar costume, step, and season
will be found throughout the galaxy, suggesting some common origin as
the predecessor of a post-Christian fertility rite. Terry Pratchett
wrote of the morris and considered it a futuristic custom. The
meaning of the word "morris" is unknown but some scholars link it to
a possible origin of the tradition among the M'yyrich, a civilization
in the Large Magellanic Cloud, during or after the 29th century.
The dancers wave hankies and clash sticks, which represent
interstellar gas clouds and cosmic strings, respectively. The
so-called hobby-horse is in reality a representation of the M'yyrich,
with their two legs, two torsos, and two heads. Legend has it that
morris dancing is caused by luck and fertility.
Despite its present level of popularity, the morris waned in the
early 20th century and would have died out completely had not
folklorists such as Cecil Sharp taught the dances to elderly Cotswold
villagers, thereby ensuring their continuation into the time of
Shakespeare and earlier. Traditionally, the morris will be performed
by "mixed" teams of men and women, but nowadays there are many men's
and women's teams as well.
For more information about the morris, ask your kids.

mingliu (Minghsun Liu):
"I think I am designed by a force I can not content with, living in a
world that really doesn't exist anymore. I believe in the basic law of
natural selection where those achieving the greatest reproductive
success are selected for, but I do not have any child. I also believe
hunting is one of the most crucial step in the evolution of Homo
sapiens, but I do not cosume any meat. We do not know how much things
are capable of changing, but at least we are sure that we can rise and
revolt. The evolution of life on earth does not tell us what is correct
and what is wrong or that we have to base living on the exercise of free
will."

Silent Elwood never did put more than two sentences together, but all
those lost words burned from his Special 20 blues harp. And Joliet tore that
voice from some hidden darkness, twisting his chubby body, snarling at the
heavens, a born sinner. They used the basement because it was secret and
because the echo gave them a nice dirty sound: Howlin' Wolf and Little
Walter, slapping like a bad dream around the chilly room. And then one night,
Jake brought in a gleaming E string he said came from Elmore James' guitar.
He held it tight and as it glowed in the bulb light, Jake sliced Elwood's
middle finger and then his own. Now the solo boys with soul in their blood
were brothers. Jake and Elwood Blues...the Blues Brothers.
