amgreene (Andrew Marc Greene):

... a memory from six years ago ...

---begin memory---

Why are there so many modules at Xerox,
Red, orange, yellow, and blue?
There's even a purple, but something is missing,
And what it is, we ask of you.
The phone calls are free, and the food is okay,
And the students play pool until three.
But someday they'll find it,
The rainbow connection,
Hey, Xeroids, what's missing is {he|she}.

Haven't you ever looked into a classroom,
Seen businessmen all in a row?
They seem so attentive, but what are they learning?
Wouldn't we all like to know.
Grey-and-white pinstripes and navy-blue jackets ---
Their suits are as dull as can be.
But someday they'll find it,
The rainbow connection,
Hey, Xeroids, what's missing is we.

Both of us always misspelled.
You realize that it is tragic!

We trek through the tunnels from morning 'til nighttime,
We don't go outside once all day.
We rarely see sunshine; no trees, and no bushes.
For this is the underground way.
The stripes on the walls are of so many colors,
Here at XICTMD.
But someday they'll find us,
The rainbow connection,
Hey, Xeroids, what's missing is GREENE!

La, da da di, da da doo.
La da di da, dum di da doo.

---end memory

*sigh* It's good to feel alive again. :-)

eichin (Mark W. Eichin):

Things I'm doing:
Trying to decide if "accomplishment" really is a drug.
And if I'm addicted to it.
And if this is a problem...

Short term:
	GC'ing my index cards.

Long term:
	Building a library.
	Organizing *everything*...

prep.ai.mit.edu [18.71.0.38] in the file /pub/gnu/hello-1.0.tar.Z
(about 100k compressed).

The GNU Hello program produces a familiar, friendly greeting. It
allows nonprogrammers to use a classic computer science tool which
would otherwise be unavailable to them.

The GNU version of this classic program provides numerous
enhancements over previous implementations, devised by the
GNU Hello Development Team.

Send all bug reports for GNU Hello to bug-gnu-hello@prep.ai.mit.edu.

starflt (Derrick Kong):

THE ENGINES CANNA TAKE IT, CAP'N!

The Federation Space designer's notes mention that "The movement
factors exceed the maximum speed of any ship (as given in @i(Star Fleet
Battles)) by a considerable margin. This is because even at its
emergency speed of Warp Seven, it would take the Federation's heavy
cruiser over 50 years to reach the Klingon border!"
