Short term...
*) get a 486 box Real Soon now, to hack Linux on... [DONE. The box is
in my office. 486, 210M, 16M, SVGA 1M...]
 2) practice electric guitar (yes, I got one for Christmas. No, this
does *NOT* signal an imminent career change.)
 3) buy more shelves for my apartment. (IKEA Road Trip! This may
actually happen! send me email if you're interested, and think you
could stand my company for 8-10 hours :-)
 4) Find a date for the Valentine's Dance on 15 Feb. (Subtle plans? Naah.
I just need to find someone who dances about as well as I do :-)

Long term...
 1) get a machine up on the 44.193.xxx.xxx net. (Ok, *real* long
term...)

Right Now...
What? I'm not logged in? I may be trying to actually get work done.
(617)494-1068 rings on my desk; eichin@CYGNUS.COM likewise (mail to
me should still go to Athena unless (1) it is Cygnus business (2) it
is something you really want me to see *now* in which case send it to
 both places...)

therese (Therese):

Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
        People.
People important to you, people unimportant to you cross your
life. Touch it with love and carelessness and move on.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief
and wonder why you ever came into contact with them.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of remorse
and wonder why they had to go away and leave such a gaping hole.
Children leave parents; friends leave friends, acquaintances
          grow apart.
        Enemies hate and move on.
        Friends love and move on.
You think of the many who have moved into your hazy memory.
You look on those present and wonder.
I believe in God's master plan in life. He moves people in and
out of each other's lives, and each leaves his mark on the
other. You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who
ever touched your life, and you are more because of it, and you
would be less if they had not touched you.
Pray to God that you accept the bits and pieces, in humility and
wonder, and never question and never regret.
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.

                                - L. Channey

Inspired by the Mercedes thread and the discussion about wealthy people
who can spend $100K on a car with no concern regarding the cost:

The latest issue of "Soldier of Fortune" magazine's "World Watch" pages
contains an item those people might be interested in.

Pepsico traded the (former) Soviets Pepsi for several Whiskey-class
diesel submarines. These are now for sale, without weaponry, FOB the
Baltic, for $200,000 each, crew training included. Bring your own
diesel fuel.

I'm not sure which Pepsi office you phone to take them up on this deal...
:-)

Talk about one-upmanship at the yacht club!
