balamac (Brian A. LaMacchia):

Restore jinx's .plan file to Central_America!

This file is modified daily so that it will appear every day in
Central_America, a discuss meeting which collects all .plan files on
Athena which have changed in the past 24 hours. This process will
continue until jinx's .plan file is added back into the CA database.

To date, five people have been removed from the CA database
because those who read CA didn't like having to see repetitive .plan
files day after day. They are:

		   boomer, dom, dhbernst, jinx, wslee

They were removed because they would not change their .plan files to
conform to the desires of the readers of CA.

Failure to see this file in Central_America means that I too have been
removed from the CA database against my will.

[ Mail forwards to bal@zurich.ai.mit.edu. Finger -l there. ]

celine (Hagbard Celine):

Current plans include:

Finish writing the paper on logical atomism in which I compare
Russell's theory to Wittgenstein's. Turn it in tomorrow.

Write up my notebook for Frege to Quine, turn it in on Monday.

Start the paper due 12/10/91 on the question of personal identity as
it arises in the body of Hume's Treatise and more specifically, the
implications of the retraction(?) of this position in the Appendix.
Wait until 12/6/91 to hear David Pears' lecture on this very topic
before making any controversial claims (the paper gets turned in to
Pears).

Figure out if the argumentative circle Kant uses to found freedom and
the moral law is vicious or not, and put together some kind of paper
on freedom in the Foundations and Second Critique by 12/18/91 (whew).

---

Nothing like a nice, toasty flame war on (IMHO) a vacuous topic. I
kind of liked seeing the same plans every day. It told me the users
were still alive :)

I remember several years ago someone (Mark Eichin, I think) suggested
removing my plans from the database because they were consistently
depressing. Fortunately, Dan Schmidt (where are you now, Dan?) came
to my rescue, stating that he liked them.

Printing press or public forum? The jury is out...

There is a Yugoslavian (Serb) army colonel in the news at the moment --
I wonder what the headlines would say if he dumped his regiment and went
over to the other side...

              "Colonel Panic - Corps dumped."

PS Yes, his name really is 'Panic'.
