balamac (Brian A. LaMacchia):
Restore jinx's .plan file to Central_America!
This file is modified daily so that it will appear every day in
Central_America, a discuss meeting which collects all .plan files on
Athena which have changed in the past 24 hours. This process will
continue until jinx's .plan file is added back into the CA database.
To date, five people have been removed from the CA database
because those who read CA didn't like having to see repetitive .plan
files day after day. They are:
boomer, dom, dhbernst, jinx, wslee
They were removed because they would not change their .plan files to
conform to the desires of the readers of CA.
Failure to see this file in Central_America means that I too have been
removed from the CA database against my will.
[ Mail forwards to bal@zurich.ai.mit.edu. Finger -l there. ]

as a card carrying member of the aclu, i *never* thought i'd be arguing
against anybody who claimed to be on the side of free speech/expression
or right to privacy, but jinx and balamac have changed that.
look snapperheads, central america exists for the pleasure of its
readers. we're not telling you what to put in your .plan files, nor are
we reading anything that is 'private'. the only files the ca program
reads are world-readable .plans--if you *don't* want your .plans in ca,
you can: ask to be removed from the ca database, continue to put the
same material in them, or don't not them world-readable. nobody is
forcing you to broadcast your plan. if you *do* want your plan in ca,
then put something in there that's of interest to the ca readers (see,
we're not telling you to conform your plan to our standards, we're just
saying that if you don't, we're not going to read it (why should we?).
there is a difference, maybe it's too subtle for you). it's not ca's
responsibility to provide a forum for login/logout information.
why on earth do you (balamac) care if jinx was removed from the ca
database? do you really think we've violated any of his rights? if so,
which one(s) (i really want to know)? or are you just plain being a
pain in the ass? i think that's the case.
if it's privacy you want, then don't make your .plan readable
if you want to post to ca, then make your .plan interesting

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
or snack lunch in the hall,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
Finland has it all.
You're so sadly neglected,
And so often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Your mountains so lofty
Your treetops so tall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all...
