celine (Hagbard Celine):

How to Win at Nethack:

1) Don't play. This is a big win, as you'll actually get some work done.

2) Speed and invisibility are the key. They'll get you as far as the
hives and the graveyards, and they'll allow you to clear them,
earning you royal jelly (str++) and wraith corpses (lvl++).

3) Never mess with monster with special attacks that you're not
currently immune to, esp orange dragons <sigh>.

4) Read the nethack hints file. Learn it.

5) If it's not too late - go back and reread step one.

The scientists had another idea which was totally at odds with the
benefits to be derived from the standardization of weights and measures;
they adapted to them the decimal system, on the basis of the metre as a
unit; they suppressed all complicated numbers. Nothing is more contrary
to the organization of the mind, of the memory, and of the
imagination... The new system of weights and measures will be a
stumbling block and the source of difficulties for several
generations... It's just tormenting the people with trivia!!!

Subject: Biblical computing

It's a well known fact that computing devices such as the abacus were invented
thousands of years ago. But it's not well known that the first use of a
common computer protocol occured in the Old Testament.

This, of course, was when Moses aborted the Egyptians' process with a
control-sea...

therese (Therese):

Why are these women here dancing on their own?
Why is there this sadness in their eyes?
	Why are the soldiers here
	Their faces fixed like stone?
I can't see what it is that they despise
	They're dancing with the missing
	They're dancing with the dead
They dance with the invisible ones
	Their anguish is unsaid
	They're dancing with their fathers
	They're dancing with their sons
	They're dancing with their husbands
They dance alone. They dance alone.
