amgreene (Andrew Marc Greene):
McCarthy was a golfer who couldn't afford to pay the club fees, but he
was a friend of the pro's so he would get a call whenever a threesome
needed someone to join them. One Sunday the pro told him ``You're in luck.
There's a threesome about to tee off.'' So McCarthy went to the first
hole and found three Hassidim. They were dressed in their long, hevay,
black coats even though it was 94 degrees out. ``Well,'' thought
McCarthy, ``At least it's a game.''
First hole, he ends up hitting a tree. The three Hasidim each birdie
the hole, and McCarthy double-bogeys it. By the end of the day, the
scores were Yosi 64, Heshey 69, Yankele 72, and McCarthy 92.
``I can't stand it!'' cried McCarthy. ``How can you play so well?
You must practice every day!'' Yosi replied, ``No. We go to shul
every morning, and spend the day in our electronics store on 42d
Street. Saturday we spend all day praying. Sunday, we ask God for
a little game of golf.''
McCarthy is incredulous, but they convince him that they only play
on Sunday. He's so convinced, in fact, that he goes home and tells
his wife that he's decided to convert to Judaism.

jik (Jonathan I. Kamens):
So, a year later, the conversion is complete, and McCarthy, still
sore, heads back to the golf course on Sunday to see if it has paid
off.
Coincidentally enough, he ends up joining the same threesome of
Hassidim. The play through their eighteen holes, and at the end of
it, the scores are Yosi 64, Heshey 69, Yankele 72, and McCarthy 96.
Distraught, McCarthy confronts Yosi.... "I don't understand it! I was
so inspired by what you told me last year, that I went out immediately
afterwards and began the conversion process. I went through the whole
thing, joined a synagogue, and prayed every day for the past month.
Why did I do so badly."
Yosi responds, "You did, really? What synagogue did you join?"
"Beth El."
"You putz! Beth El is for tennis!"
