Mircosoft buys Purina
REDMOND, WA --July 16, 1991-- Microsoft Corporation announced today
that it has agreed to purchase Purina Food Corporation for a price
still to be negotiated. The statement came after International
Business Machines declared their purchase of Bob's Bar and Grill of
Rock Springs, Wyoming. "We were competitive in the software
business, but now that they [IBM] have moved into the food
preparation market, we realize that we can no longer ignore this
tremendously important market." said one Microsoft official when
asked the reason for the purchase, who then went on to say, "Besides,
what the hell. Everyone else is doing it."
With the acquisition of Purina, Microsoft plans to begin development
of the industry's first object oriented animal chow. A Microsoft
spokesperson explained the advantages this acquisition will provide
the software giant: "Not only will this allow ISV's to produce better
dog and cat food faster, the use of object derivation will speed the
creation of new animal foods. We hope this project will parallel the
work we are doing in our object oriented animal group, which is
involved in our joint development agreement made with God.
We have gotten to the point where we can crank out a new beast about
every three weeks, but right now we don't have anything to feed them. We
will be releasing generic object chow within a month of the final agreement."
Although IBM's purchase of Bob's appears to be another attempt to
upset Microsoft's hold of the software market, a spokesperson from
the company maintains, "Bob's is a purely strategic move in line with
our other recent agreements. Along with Bob's, our new assosiation
with Apple and our purchase of Metaphor will allow us to dominate the
graphical burger interface. With a single burger, we will be able to
do better BigMacs than BigMacs, better Whoppers than Whoppers, and
better Bacon Masters than Bacon Masters, all concurrently. And
besides, it'll show those young, hippy, whippersnappers at Microsoft
that we still know what we're doing."
Negotiations between Microsoft and Purina are expected to be
finalized by the end of the year. Although there have been no formal
complaints made by share holders, James Nicon, industry analyst,
points out, "If ISV's are forced to adopt another API, Microsoft may
loose a lot of them. That isn't going to make the share holders very
happy." On the other side of the argument, an unnamed Microsoft
manager stated, "It's going to be great. As soon as I figure out
where I am in the object hierarchy, I will be able to do all of my
grocery shopping at the company store."

therese (Therese):
We were friends who rode the waves
The time we spent in our younger days
Was all in fun,.. oh the good times that we had.
We were young and it was fine
To feel your spirit as it climbed
There're no regrets
Only good times
We were friends in younger days
Although we went our separate ways
You were my friend, you never turned away
Who can say what life will do
Life is kind to just a few
There're no regrets
Only good times
In time we will grow, we will change
As free as the wind and the waves
Live your life the way you choose
Find the ones who'll laugh with you
Like the sea
will find its way to shore
As the sun sinks from the sky,
Live your life and you will find
There're no regrets
Only good times ....
