And the winner is... UNLV. Big surprise, eh?

hetrick (Brian Hetrick):

	     Dad's Shaving Brush

I tried the shaving brush Dad left. It swept
around the mug, and foamed the soap to thick
white creamy warmth spread on my beard. I felt
the stubby bristles, worn short with age, like
daggers lightly drawn across my throat, each
scrubbing plain white soap to cleanse the field
where bright sharp blades excuse the manhair, scrape
the skin, caress the artery. I held
the white bone handle as he had, years past,
with three fingers -- two fingers, really, and
a thumb -- as though to paint a scene in frost
on pasty rouge. Through years of silence, Dad
brought home his pay, made sure that we were fed,
and kept this morning ritual of men.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
lavin (Anne R LaVin):

	Sometimes I think
		Life is just a rodeo
	The trick is to ride
And make it to the bell...

-Dan Fogherty, "Rock and Roll Girl"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
leira (Rev. Linda L. Julien):

She will bring the buds in the Spring
and laugh among the flowers.
In Summer's heat Her kisses are sweet;
She sings in leafy bowers.
She cuts the cane and gathers the grain
when the fruits of Fall surround Her.
Her bones grow old; in Wintry cold
She wraps Her cloak around Her.

morton22 (Michael Saltsman):

Well, I hope to spread peace and joy to all the

sker (Mic.O.):

Another plan just went the way of a passing cloudburst.

Tears did not fall, I have grown colder since last time.

Ya, too bad for me huh?

So what that the words are meaningless now? My emotions are
not defined by my words. And what I say rarely alters what I feel.
I write so I can see the visual manifest of what has happened.
It usually laughs back at me, because I created it and I can not
change the written sentiment once i commit to word. I cannot feel
for editing what is not the whole story to begin with. ( I may not
even understand what I have said, perhaps it can release from my
depths a key or just an additional enigma. )

Prose just happens.

Just like me.

On and on the rain will fall

        Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
        How fragile we are
        How fragile we are..
