bjaspan (Barr3y Jaspan):

Discovering that someone whom you thought considered you a friend no
longer has any use for you sucks a lot.

dsi (David S Inouye):

Some wishful thinking ............................................ sigh..

Summer's here!
I'm for that.
I've got my rubber sandals
got my straw hat
drinking cold beer.
I'm justy glad that it's here.

Summer's here!
I suit's me fine.
It may rain today but i don't mind.
It's my favorite time of the year
and i'm glad that it's here.

Old man Wintertime he moves so slow.
It`s 10 degrees below you know.
You can take your ice and snow
and let my balmy breezes blow.

fallas:

silent shore of the birth of the sun

a fish leaps from the silver waters
blazing sunlit for an instant like a comet
its tail a scattering spray of diamonds

a stallion's coat flashes
rippling midnight streaked with wildfire
he canters unfettered, free, far distant
in time lost to sight

and a single bird cries out in the dawn
as it moves, stark and white
against the burning sky

Someday we'll look back on these moments
and plow into a parked car.

jcb (Jeff Bigler):

Remember when:

  * Operators asked "number please" when you made a long distance call so
they would know to whom to bill the call

  * Battery-powered watches had tuning forks and cost over $100

  * Cars didn't have shoulder belts, headrests, emergency flashers or
back-up lights and you could see past the engine to the pavement

  * All computer programs were read from punch cards

  * Re-released monaural recordings advertised that they could be played on
	stereophonic systems

  * Cans were made of steel and had pull-tabs

  * Pavement markings were all in white except for solid yellow lines
dividing 2-lane highways (Dotted lines dividing 2-lane highways
were still white. One-directional passing zones were a solid
yellow line and a dotted white line.)

  * Signs on highways said things like "Speed Limit 70; Buses 60; Trucks 50"

  * Movie theaters had ash trays on the back of every other seat

  * Master Charge and Bank AmeriCard cards all looked the same

  * Modems were 100 baud and connected to teletypes

  * Photocopiers printed only on thermal paper

jcbourne (Juliet C Bourne):

Sometimes I see your face / The stars seem to lose their place
Why must I think of you? / Why must I? / Why should I?
Why should I cry for you? / Why would you want me to?
And what would it mean to say, / That, "I loved you in my fashion"?

What would be true? / Why should I? / Why should I cry for you?

sethg (Seth A. Gordon):

"Dan Rather here, with a CBS News Special Report. Due to the glacial
speed at which our dispatches from the Gulf go through the Pentagon's
censors, we are buying pictures from the Soviet surveillance satellite
Cosmos 1984. With us in our New York studio is General Hiram Nuisance.
General, can you interperet these pictures for us?"

"Well, Dan, that flash of light in the western suburbs of Kuwait City
might have been an M-16. Then again, it might have been the Sheikh's
porch light."

"I see, General Nuisance. And if it is an M-16, what does that mean?"

"Well, it means that the allied troops are incredibly successful in
their assault so far. I would predict that they'll have Saddam's head
on a pike in another eighteen days, ten hours, and thirty-seven minutes."

"And if it's a porch light, sir?"

"Then the Sheikh needs a new generator."

"With us now in our Washington studio is an executive from General Electric,
the exculsive manufacturers of light bulbs for the Kuwaiti royal family..."
