beginning to believe it."

jcbourne (Juliet C Bourne):

Only hope can keep me together
			Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart

"Message in a Bottle", The Police

	   * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * *

I don't know if you'll understand this, my friend
		    I don't know if you're listening
But there is something that I must say
Something that you probably have heard from me before
I don't know why I get the urge
To say the things I say and do the things I do
				But I do
And if I ignore that urge
Sooner or later I'll drive myself crazy
		   Wondering what would have happened
			What COULD have happened
			    If I had only...
So I feel the need to say something
And I analyze that something that needs saying
And I see that it is silly, selfish, stupid
			   And I don't say it
There is something that I must say
But I see now that it is like the rest
For they are all the same
So I will go on not saying it
And if you see me one day and wonder
Why is she acting that way as if she's trying
To say and not say something
			    You'll know why
There is something that I must say
			   But I won't say it

slippery (Samuel A Lippert):

The Plight:
The human heart has learned since infancy to be a slave to
insecurity, lust, hatred, and jealousy. As a result, the joy and love
in which it is every heart's right to participate can not be fully
realized by most. Thus, most people can look forward to lives that
are sadly disappointing compared to what was their potential.
To oppose this, everyone must learn to combat insecurity, lust,
hatred, and jealousy and shatter the chains that keep us from being a
friendly, more loving, and, thereby, greater people.

On combatting insecurity:
Insecurity is a lack of faith in oneself. It stems from self-pity
and self-dislike. Insecurity makes a heart weak, and nothing can love
freely without courage.
To combat insecurity is to combat self-doubt. It is the
greatest and first shackle to be thrown off, for only after learning
to love and appreciate oneself can one love and appreciate others.
All men and women are miracles in any sense of the word. Each
existence is special, unique, and with something to offer. Each
thought in each mind is something entirely new. This is not meant as
empty rhetoric, but must be the basis for every individuals conception
of his/herself. Love thyself.

On combatting lust:
What is lust? Lust is not just sexual desire. Sexual desire
and its responsible fulfillment is part of a healthy life. Lust,
however, is the sexual desire that enslaves the heart. Lust creates
an unfortunate coupling between the loins and the heart so that as the
heart tries to command the loins, the loins, in turn, command the
heart. From lust, one falls in and out of "love" as the tides of
one's desires rises and falls. This "love" is nothing of the kind.
It has become sickened, obsessive, and will result in no true
happiness for the participants as it continues.
Lust can be combatted by divorcing the heart from the loins.
Sex and love must be thought of as independent events, neither one
holding the reigns of the other. Only then can the heart be free to
love. Free thy heart.

On combatting hatred:
Hatred is a cold and focused will to destroy that the
individual may project upon anything or anyone. Unlike anger, which
explodes and dissipates naturally in all people, hatred lingers within
the heart, chilling it with each passing day. It is a weight upon the
soul, and will not be satisfied until it has utterly destroyed its
host as well as its object.
It is a canker. It must be cut out and stomped into the
ground quickly and decisively. One must embrace what one has hated
and hate them no more. Hatred must be stopped before the heart is
destroyed. Love others.

On combatting jealousy:
Jealousy is the intertwining of insecurity, lust, and hatred.
Insecurity is the source of doubt, the doorway. Lust creates feelings
of proprietorship, which causes feelings of paranoia. The outcome is
hatred, a commodity that jealousy produces in abundance. It is
jealousy that epitomizes the fetters of the heart.
Anyone who has cast out any one of them has seen a face of
jealousy, and so it can be said that this last personal demon is the
easiest to reject if one has sucessfully combatted the others. One
who defeated jealousy can have a healthy free heart. Love freely.
