(I'm playing devil's advocate here; I'm not really sure which side of
this issue I believe in more.)

What if the user in question asks a question in olc, and a consultant
has to finger at his workstation to find out if he's still logged in
or if he's idle? What happens if another user complains that the user
on workstation foo is printing twenty copies of his thesis on python,
and a consultant has to finger at workstation foo to find out who it
is, and it turns out that it's natasha? Presto, a plan file.

So, you see, there *is* a possibility of seeing that .plan file
without intending to. As several people have already pointed out, the
whole point of .plan is, "If you have any reason to finger me, I want
you to see this file, even if you're not necessarily fingering me to
read the .plan file." Sort of like, "If you have any reason to walk
by my dorm, I want you to see the `Gays are perverts and the work of
the devil' sign I have in my window, even if you're not necessarily
walking by my dorm just to see the sign."

I think the front of the door analogy is more accurate than the back
of the door analogy. And I think that anybody who put stuff like what
was in natasha's .plan file on the front of his dorm room door would
find himself up on charges before the COD PDQ.
