Subject: Aesthetics: suggested new error message
Keywords: TeX, error messages

A colleague here was reading a book on DTP and came across a much-wished-for
error message (the book was lamenting that no system had it)...

     +------------------------------+
     | Page aesthetically offensive |
     | Refusing to print |
     +------------------------------+

I don't suppose there's any way we can get this into TeX...:-)

Plan for this week...

	sleep > 4 hours/night so I don't owe $.50/night on the
		"allnighter" bet...
	6.046 problem sets
\	finish writing chapter 4 of my thesis
outline chapter 5 of my thesis

x = done
\ = in progress

(note that I haven't quite gotten around to sleeping > 4 hrs/night yet...)

Today's secret word is inhomogeneous.
No definition for 'inhomogeneous'.

marc (Marc Horowitz):

EDP Position Descriptions:

Data Processing Manager:
Leaps tall buildings in a single bound,
is more powerful than a locomotive,
is faster than a speeding bullet,
walks on water,
gives policy to God.

Ass't Data Processing Manager:
Leaps short buildings in a single bound,
is more powerful than a switch engine,
is just as fast as a speeding bullet,
walks on water if the sea is calm,
talks to God.

Senior Systems Analyst:
Leaps short buildings with a running start and favorable winds,
is almost as powerful as a switch engine,
is faster than a speeding BB,
walks on water in an indoor swimming pool,
talks with God if special request is approved.

Systems Analyst:
Barely clears Quonset hut,
loses tug of war with a locomotive,
can fire a speeding bullet,
swims well,
is occasionally addressed, by God.

Lead Programmer:
Makes high marks on the wall when trying to leap buildings,
is run over by locomotives,
can sometimes handle a gun without inflicting self-injury,
dog-paddles,
talks to animals.

Senior Programmer:
Runs into buildings.
recognized locomotives two times out of three,
is not issued ammunition,
can stay afloat with a life jacket,
talks to walls.

Maintenance Programmer:
Falls over doorsteps when trying to enter buildings,
says, ``Look at the choo-choo,''
wets himself with a water pistol,
mumbles to himself.

Programmer:
Lifts buildings and walks under them,
kicks locomotives off the tracks,
catches speeding bullets in his teeth and eats them,
freezes water with a single glance,
he is GOD.

Hey There!

Thanks for looking me up! I love mail (hint, hint)

Remember, "Everything's relative"

Your problems are just specks of dust in the plane of life.
Anyway, what is life? Why am I here?
Please let me know if you know.

"I've been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
 But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
 But I think it's about
 Forgiveness, Forgiveness
 Even if, Even if
 You don't love me anymore."

therese (Suntioinen Therese M.):

	Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
	Eating breakfast or dinner,
or snack lunch in the hall,
	Finland, Finland, Finland,
	Finland has it all.

	You're so sadly neglected,
	And so often ignored,
	A poor second to Belgium,
	When going abroad.

	Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
	Your mountains so lofty
	Your treetops so tall
	Finland, Finland, Finland
	Finland has it all...
