bierce (Jonathan C Bierce):

Ulysses S. Grant:
"Bold in conception, self-reliant, demonstrating by his acts that 'much danger
makes great hearts most resolute,' fertile in resources, combining the
restlessness of a Hotspur with the patience of a Fabius, it is no wonder that
he should have been looked upon as the wizard of the battlefield."
- General Horace Porter

Eric Fox (Yale '94) has informed me that some of you fingerers don't know my
address. For those of you who want it:
Jon the Great
450 Memorial Dr. A217
Cambridge, Mass 02139

dsi (David S Inouye):

TThe secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.
Anyone can do it, there ain't nothing to it.
Nobody knows how we got to the top of the hill.
Since we're on our way down, might as well enjoy the ride.

Isn't it a lovely ride, sliding down, gliding down.
Try not to try to hard, it's just a lovely ride.

				-James Taylor

Thank you, brlewis. That was kind of you to send me the comments! (:@

I have my beliefs, and you all have yours. (-:@ I don't know--somehow the
smileys don't quite seem as smiley unless the nose disappears in the smile.
You know, as if the dimples had kinda taken over....) I can't change your
minds, and I won't try unless you want me to do so. My religious views are
mine, not yours. They're good for ME. I never try to foist them onto some-
one else who wouldn't like them. I have a number of friends and relatives
who do not believe in God or Christ.

No, sethg, I am not going to jump off a roof or become an atheist if I lose
lose Dags. Firstly I don't think suicide would help the situation any. %:)
Then there is the fact that I believe in Jesus Christ. Utterly. There are
some events in the Bible which can be proven historically, and there are some
which must be taken on faith. I have faith, and nothing can take that away
from me. Nothing.

YIPPEE!! Ahem, forgive my enthusiasm. I'm sure that must be offending SOMEone
out there. (:% &:D (-:E d:-D I'm just happy. You can be unhappy if you
want to--some people enjoy melancholy, and some just can't escape it. It
happens. Tears are as much a part of life as laughter, and both are necessary
for a well-balanced emotional diet.

je t'aime, dags
pour toujours
ca ne fait rien ce qui se passera
je t'adore, cushla mo croide
et si vous, les spectateurs, trouvent ca degoutat,. . .
TANT PIS! (:% *:)

===========

The purpose of MIT is to take (theoretically) the "brightest" people,
and make them into brain-dead zombies dragging themselves from one
caffiene source to another in an effort to get our homework done.

The other purpose of MIT is to make us appreciate the "real world"
(because we're so glad to get out)!!

{Disclaimer: MIT has wiped out my brains to the point that I cannot
come up with something neat for my .plan file every day.... Anything
below "Thought for the day:" is a product of my .logout :-) }

Thought for the day:

Today's secret word is postscript.
post.script \'po-(s)-.skript\ n [NL postscriptum, fr. L, neut. of
postscriptus, pp. of postscrib]ere to write after, fr. post- + scribere to
write - more at SCRIBE : a note or series of notes appended to a completed
   letter, article, or book

sethf (Seth Finkelstein):

The following song was taken from Monty Python's Contractual
Obligation Album. It is sung to the tune of "All Creatures
Great and Small".

All Things Dull and Ugly
========================

All things dull and ugly,
All creatures short and squat,
All things rude and nasty,
The Lord God made the lot.

Each little snake that poisons,
Each little wasp that stings,
He made their brutish venom,
He made their 'orrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous,
All evil great and small,
All things foul and dangerous,
The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet,
Each beastly little squid,
Who made the spiky urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scabbed and ulcerous,
All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul, and gangrenous,
The Lord God made them all.

Amen.

thakur (Manavendra K. Thakur):

The thing I wonder about the Dads and Moms
Who send their sons to the Vietnams
Will they really think their way of life
Has been protected as the next war comes?

			-- Jackson Browne, 1986

Don't stray too far, out on your own
