celine (Robert Fullmer):

All republicans are lobotomized cantalope.

Abortion should be legal up to the age on 13, with appropriate
compensation provided if performed by someone other than the parents,
the later the abort, the larger the payment due the parents (gotta
compensate for food and time).

I hope you're getting as much joy, peace and love from the divine
thingamobob as I am right now. In fact, I hope you're getting more,
which still ain't saying much.

Prisoners convicted of felonies less or equally severe to battery should
have one hand cut off, more serious crimes should be punished by
death. Either that or flip a coin and if it comes up heads, free the
convict; if it's a Wednesday.

Lime should be dumped in all the acid lakes; better yet, dump lime
from high altitudes into any available clouds and kill the nasty
clouds that cause the whole thing. I mean, the clouds are the source,
right?

Taxes should be raised until every single citizen (who can speak)
screams in anger and frustration; then we should dissolve the
government and make Ronald Reagan king (he did a good job last time,
didn't he?).

Unix should be replaced by DOS.

fallas (Evelyn F Smith):

Oh, I dunno. Spontaneity is very appealling. Planning is so dull. I mean,
what if I changed my mind? And my fingers would get tired typing it all in.
Well, actually I'm just sorta scatterbrained so spontaneity is basically my
life. My plans don't always turn out the way I want them to.... (:%
But if I do indeed have any plan at all, it is to love Dags and to
make him as happy as is humanly possible without ever hurting him. But then
again, I've already flubbed the second part of that. One half of my glorious
plan down in flames. I do, however, mean to love him forever.

Yep. Absolutely and without a doubt. If you see him, tell him so!!! (:@ %:D
He's tall and beautiful; he wears glasses and brown-gold hair, and he's soft-
spoken and friendly to everyone. He won't mind. Just walk right up to him and
tell him, "fallas loves you!!!" He knows it anyway, but I love repeating it!
Besides, it's a great way to introduce yourself. Picture it: "Hi, my name
is John. fallas said to tell you she loved you." Why, Dags would never, ever
forget a person he met in that way!! (:# @:) &:D (:*

Whether you do that or not, God be with you, whoever you are looking at my
"Plan." And Jesus Christ His Son guide you so that you, too, will know as
much joy as I do right now. d:D

jcb (Jeff Bigler):

I wrote the following to accompany my picture on the orchestra poster
for the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Players' production of H.M.S. Pinafore.
Lots of people seem to be amused by it, so I figured it would make a
good .plan file.

				*  *  *

Jeff Bigler has been playing violin for twenty-two years. He took up
the viola, his primary instrument, fourteen years ago because it was
less treble. His viola has been playing for ninety-eight years, and
is completely unimpressed with Jeff's experience. Jeff's favorite
keys are A major and E major, but he doesn't particularly care for the
relative minor of either. His viola's favorite note is the B-flat
below middle C. Both of them can be seen in MITGaSP and MIT Symphony
Orchestra performances. When Jeff is not playing his viola, he can be
found singing with the Festival of Light and Song Chorus, Morris
dancing, exploring caves, hacking within the Institute, and taking
apart anything he can find. When his viola is not playing, it can be
found drinking and carousing with a neighbor's oboe.

jcbourne (Juliet C Bourne):

The true story lies
among the other stories

a mess of colours, like jumbled clothing
thrown off or away,

like hearts on marble, like syllables, like
butchers discards.

The true story is vicious
and multiple and untrue

after all. Why do you
need it? Don't ever

ask for the true story.

The purpose of MIT is to take (theoretically) the "brightest" people,
and make them into brain-dead zombies dragging themselves from one
caffiene source to another in an effort to get our homework done.

The other purpose of MIT is to make us appreciate the "real world"
(because we're so glad to get out)!!

{Disclaimer: MIT has wiped out my brains to the point that I cannot
come up with something neat for my .plan file every day.... Anything
below "Thought for the day:" is a product of my .logout :-) }

Thought for the day:

Genius, n.: A chemist who discovers a laundry additive that rhymes with
"bright".

therese (Suntioinen Therese M.):

Go placidly among the noise and haste, remember what peace
there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with with all persons. Speak your truth
quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and
ignorant, they too have their story - Avoid loud and aggressive
persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare
yourself with others, there will be greater and lesser persons
than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans -
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a
real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise
caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of
        trickery.  But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere, life is full
of heroism - Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity
and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass - Take kindly
to the counsel of they years, gracefully surrending the things
of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden
misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome
discipline, be gentle with yourself - You are a child of the
universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right
to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the
universe is unfolding as it should - Therefore be at peace with
God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors
and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with
your soul - With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is
still a beautiful world. Be careful, strive to be happy.

Note of the week:

This coming Monday, November 12, is the fall Sunset Day. On this day at
4:19 PM, the setting sun will align with the Infinite corridor. The
best viewing is usually on the third floor. Hope for clear weather on
the western horizon.

The next scheduled Sunset Day is January 31, at 4:45 PM.

The dates were provided by the MIT Planning Office. According to them,
the days and times are the same each year. They also used to sell a
poster depicting this event. Copies may still be available.
