Subject: Support your free window managers!
From: rms@ai.mit.edu (Richard Stallman)

Free window managers such as twm can be part of the GNU system;
proprietary ones such as Motif cannot.

One way you as a user can easily and conveniently make a small
contribution to the GNU project is by using a free window manager
rather than Motif. This way, you will report bugs in the free
manager rather than bugs in Motif; you will know how to help people
with the free manager rather than with Motif.

This also contributes to the health of X Windows, since the free
window managers are part of X Windows.

Therefore, the FSF urges all users not to use Motif!

Subject: The totally obscure C program describing the love of charlotte and charly

I just thought some of you might like to know of the obscure path by which
I received that message.

Sid (whose office is on the 2nd floor at TMC) sends out message to
                fun@think.com.

Jennifer Tidwell (who also is on the second floor at TMC)
                forwards it to SIPB.

Marc (I would assume at SIPB) sends it to gli@athena (I don't know who
                that is)

Needle sends it to the MIT Computational Fluid Dynamics Lab (which
                includes me [as an alumnus])

I get the message. I also have an office on the second floor at
                TMC.

Sid, wouldn't it have been easier to send it directly??

The lovely woman-child Kaa was mercilessly chained to the cruel post
of the warrior-chief Beast, with his barbarian tribe now stacking wood
at her nubile feet, when the strong clear voice of the poetic and
heroic Handsomas roared, "Flick your Bic, crisp that chick, and you'll
feel my steel through your last meal."
