Hi! Wow, I can't believe I finally learned how to write a finger plan. I probably should have figured it out sooner, especially considering that I am almost always on Forum, and I know most of the people reading this will be Fnet addicts like myself. So first here is a brief description of myself:
Major: Since I am a freshman I don't have to declare anything
yet, but I will probably go course 14 or 15 (for those non-MITers out
there that is either economics or management). I haven't figured out
why I am here, maybe because I have always wanted to go to Harvard Law
School and decided I didn't want to be there for seven or eight years.
Hobbies and Interests: Well, there is a lot I like to do but
I'll try and keep it to a minimum. As to sport I'll play just about
anything but baseball/softball. I especially like squash, soccer, and
scuba diving (I just got my open water certification last summer). I
am a newly initiated sister in Alpha Chi Omega, and do not know how I
would have survived here without this sisterhood.... It really is
awesome, but its also hard to describe just what the bond means/feels
like. I'm also very into photography, mostly pictures of everyday
life and nature, but also the occasional portraits. When I am not at
school I work for the department of defense as an engineering aid at a
Navy research lab in Panama City, Florida (where I am currently from).
Physical Description: I am 5'4", weigh 125lbs, have blonde
hair and big brown eyes. I don't wear/need glasses (which bothers me
sometimes because I definitely feel like I am in a minority). I would
consider myself a very conservative, yet fashionable dresser. Almost
preppy-ish, but never really outrageous, although I have been a little
more adventurous the last few times I have gone shopping.
As to literary, musical interests, well it varies a great
deal. First, music, I listen to everything from top 40, to haus, but
don't like heavy metal very much, and except for Randy Travis' Old
8x10 I don't like too much country. Now books and authors... Like
music my taste varies. I enjoy an occasional trachy romance novel,
have read all of V.C. Andrews' books, but have also read all of Tom
Clancy's novels, and thoroughly enjoy Dickens, both Emily and
Charlotte Bronte, Daphne Dumaurier, D.H. Lawrence (Lady Chatterly's
Lover was an awesome book). I could probably go on and on, but I
won't...

From: A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens
A perfect description of MIT:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of time, it was the age
of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was
the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter
of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we
were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other
way---

From: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
That's my Middle West---not the wheat or the prairies or the lost
Swede towns, but the thrilling returning trains of my youth, and the
street lamps and sleigh bells in the frosty dark and the shadows of
holly wreaths thrown by lighted windows on the snow. I am a part of
that, a little solemn with the feel of those long winters, a little
complacent from growing up in the Carraway house in a city where
dwellings are still called through decades by a family's name.

From: Julius Caesar by W. Shakespeare
Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world
Like a Colossus, and we petty men
Walk under his huge legs and peep about
To find ourselves dishonorable graves.
Men at some time are masters of their fates.
Between the acting of a dreadful thing
And the first motion, all the interim is
Like a phantasma or a hideous dream.

celine (Who Drugged Thumper?):
On his first day as a bus driver, Maxey Eckstein handed in
receipts of $65. The next day his take was $67. The third day's
income was $62. But on the fourth day, Eckstein emptied no less than
$283 on the desk before the cashier.
"Eckstein!" exclaimed the cashier. "This is fantastic. That
route never brought in money like this! What happened?"
"Well, after three days on that cockamamie route, I figured
business would never improve, so I drove over to Fourteenth Street and
worked there. I tell you, that street is a gold mine!"

To the Editor ... (The following was a letter-to-the-editor in a
recent issue of the "National Observer.") "There are in the country
two very large monopolies. The larger of the two has the following
record: The Vietnam War, Watergate, double-digit inflation, fuel and
energy shortages, bankrupt airlines and the 8-cent postcard. The
second is responsible for such things as the transistor, the solar
cell, lasers, synthetic crystals, high fidelity stereo recording,
sound motion pictures, radio astronomy, negative feedback, magnetic
tape, magnetic "bubbles," electronic switching systems, microwave
radio and TV relay systems, information theory, the first electrical
digital computer, and the first communications satellite. Guess which
one is now going to tell the other how to run the telephone business?
I can hardly wait for the results."

Can anyone remember the lyrics to the dancing tripods and film cans sequence?
(thanks to amgreene for providing 4 lines...)
"I'm the Wizard of Speed and Time,
The world of film is where I shine.
I've got magic to let you see
Just where you are and want to be.
My imagination fills the screen,
I can help you find your dreams.
(missing lines)
'Round and 'round with all of my friends
As I take you through the camera lens.
(missing lines)
Watch for a wizard in a robe of green
And I will help you find dreams, dreams, dreams, dreams, dreams."

Hello, I'm Reba. Yes, I'm female, unlike most net users who are probably the only ones who will ever read this info. And I like forumnet better than frat parties. I like to meet people by talking to them, not by standing around in large groups of people surrounded by alcohol and loud music. Getting drunk isn't my way of meeting people. So the net's great, cause all you can do is talk.
Well, this is an info file. So, what do you want to know? I guess lists might help.
I LIKE: (Not in any particular order)
1. Science fiction. Especially "Doctor Who", "Blake's 7", "Star Trek", and any and all literature I can get my hands on.
2. Broadway musicals. Especially "The Phantom of the Opera". The Phantom is about the most beautiful and attractive character I've ever seen. If anyone who reads this has anything with or about the Phantom or Michael Crawford on vidoetape, photos, or otherwise, please tell me! I collect Phantom stuff!
3. Astronomy. That's what I'm going to do for a living, if it's possible to make a living doing that. =)
4. Billy Joel. He's the best. I got his autograph and a letter from him when I gave him a portrait I did of him at his Storm Tour concert here in MA. Unbefuckinlievable.
5. The Beatles. Who doesn't?

Favorite Quote: And Remember......Wherever you go.....there you are....
-Buckaroo Bonzai
I believe in the American dream, the red-white-and-blue, non-whitening
fabric softner, and doses of concentrated Blues' Brothers at times of
crises. I believe in Mozart, long walks leading nowhere and everywhere,
and that Harvard was long ago taken over by aliens from planet 10 of the
eighth dimension. I believe in peace, and old blue jeans, Boston baked
beans and New England spring. I believe in animal attraction and love
at first sight. I believe in lasting friendships and Buddhist philosophy,
God, heaven, and the elusive silver lining. I belive in my friends and
my family, and I believe in myself.
