amgreene (Andrew Marc Greene):
From the latest TeXhax: Cascading effects
A colleague of mine just showed me a fine example of
TeX's logic: replacing \max_j by \max_i in some formula
made a page somewhat shorter, so one line could be moved from the
next, on the next page a whole display was moved back, on the
next a display containing a \eqalign was moved over...
Within five pages this 2 point (or so) action had more than
a half page consequence!
Wow!

celine (Who Drugged Thumper?):
Murray and Esther, a middle-aged Jewish couple, are touring
Chile. Murray just got a new camera and is constantly snapping
pictures. One day, without knowing it, he photographs a top-secret
military installation. In an instant, armed troops surround Murray and
Esther and hustle them off to prison.
They can't prove who they are because they've left their
passports in their hotel room. For three weeks they're tortured day
and night to get them to name their contacts in the liberation
movement.. Finally they're hauled in front of a military court,
charged with espionage, and sentenced to death.
The next morning they're lined up in front of the wall where
they'll be shot. The sergeant in charge of the firing squad asks them
if they have any lasts requests. Esther wants to know if she can call
her daughter in Chicago. The sergeant says he's sorry, that's not
possible, and turns to Murray.
"This is crazy!" Murray shouts. "We're not spies!" And he
spits in the sergeants face.
"Murray!" Esther cries. "Please! Don't make trouble."

Have a nice day with your Stoli and gillette
Break the chain awhile
Pretend that we just met
I've tried to help you, but you just don't understand
This love is really not the love that I had planned
Can't you give me what I give you day and night
Is life that hard that you have to let it go
She said that I'm in love with you
I said why can't this love be true
Can't you give back what I gave you
I want my life back, I want you
Please don't call me like you've always done before
As if I need to know am I your basic whore
Just don't tell me that your love is on the line
I'm sure the truth will tell, just give it some more time
I'm sick and tired of playing your little game
(If you tell me your side I will tell you mine)
I'd like to know if you can finally change
(If you tell me your side I will tell you mine)
Why don't you believe my story
I won't tell you lies
You know it's not my dream
And if I tell you lies
You'll only realize
This isn't working out, I can't go on like this
Can't you save her Lord 'cause I just seem to miss
There's only so much one can do to save a friend
I've given her my all, it's useless to the end
Please don't let her die, my mind just won't accept
She is not the kind of girl that's strong or has respect
She said that I'm in love with you
I said why can't this love be true
Can't you give back what I gave you
I want my life back, I want you
Cos I want you

lnp (Lisa N Paradis):
Eurydice is decommissioned.... Orpheus is very distraught over
Eurydice's decommissioning.... Orpheus' anguish saddens Operations
into recommissioning her.... However, Orpheus must travel to the
machine room and get Eurydice out without sending anything to her.
In order to gain entrance into the machine room, Orpheus plays his
lyre in E40 to calm the watchmakers. Orpheus enters the machine room.
Eurydice is plugged back in, but Orpheus cannot send any packets until
they are out of the machine room. Eurydice says that Orpheus doesn't love
her - she has not received even a bit from him since she was recommissioned.
Finally, Orpheus cannot stand it any longer and sends a packet.
Eurydice crashes...
Operations, moved by the suffering of Orpheus, reboots Eurydice and she
lives again...

rlcarr (Rich Carreiro):
Can anyone remember the lyrics to the dancing tripods and film cans sequence?
"I'm the Wizard of Speed and Time,
The silver screen is where I shine.
(missing line)
To where you've been and want to be.
(missing lines)
'Round and 'round with all of my friends
As I take you through the camera lens.
(missing lines)
Watch for a wizard in a robe of green
And I will help you find dreams, dreams, dreams, dreams, dreams."
