I know American Pie is in verse, but to write it that way is too
long. I sometimes use that file as a .plan on other accounts I have
where finger'ing them REALLY works (hint, hint). It's long enough
now.
I always like to try to figure out what the song is talking about.
Fr'instance, McLean says the "widowed bride" is Buddy Holly's wife.
Yet it could be taken as a reference to Kennedy's death (I realize
there's that "February" reference, though).
Then is it:
"While Lenin read a book on Marx..."
or
"While Lennon read a book on Marx"
as the next line is "the quartet practiced in the park."
It's a neat song to ponder.
