even millions--of starfish had been washed ashore by the storm, and lay dying
on the sand for miles.
The first man, as he walked along, was picking up starfish and throwing them
back into the water.
The second man asked, "Why are you bothering? There are too many for you to
save! All your efforts won't make any difference."
The first man picked up another starfish, held it up, and said, "It makes a
difference to this one," before tossing it into the water.
