amgreene (Andrew Marc Greene):
Stay, Frderick, Stay!
They have no legal claim.
No shadow of a shame will fall upon thy name.
Stay, Fredrick, Stay!
Nay, Mabel, Nay!
Tonight I quit these walls.
The thought my soul apalls,
But when stern duty calls,
I must obey.
Ah, leave me not, to pine alone and desolate.
No fate seemed fair as mine, no happiness so great.
Where Nature, day by day, has sung with accent clear
This joyous roundelay:
``He loves thee, he is here.''
Ah, must I leave thee here, in endless night to dream,
Where joy is dark and drear, and sorrow all supreme.
Where Nature, day by day, will sing in altered tone
This weary roundelay:
``He loves thee, he is gone.''

balamac (Brian A. LaMacchia):
1. sui.cide \'su:-*-.si-d\ n [L sui (gen.) of oneself + E -cide; akin to OE
& OHG si-n]his, L suus one's own, Skt sva oneself, one's own 1a: the act or
an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally esp. by
a person of years of discretion and of sound mind 1b: ruin of one's own
interests 2: one that commits or attempts suicide
What does the law say concerning people who commit suicide? Clearly,
if you try and succeed, that's it. But what if you try and fail? Or
if you try and almost do it, to the point where only extreme medical
procedures can keep you going? Does the law require that those
procedures be taken? Or will it permit you to pull your own plug?
What about extenuating circumstances, such as terminal diseases?
How does religious law differ from common law on these points?
Questions which need to be answered in the near future.

cpc (Christopher P. Colby):
Where had I heard this wind before
Change like this to a deeper roar?
What would it take my standing there for,
Holding open a restive door,
Looking downhill to a frothy shore?
Summer was past and day was past.
Somber clouds in the west were massed.
Out in the porch's sagging floor
Leaves got up in a coil and hissed,
Blindly struck at my knee and missed.
Something sinister in the tone
Told me my secret must be known:
Word I was in the house alone
Somehow must have gotten abroad,
Word I was in my life alone,
Word I had no one left but God.
-- Robert Frost
