So here's the upcoming project schedule...
Saturday, September 11 : PARK CLEANUP
The friendly people in charge of parks always need help cleaning up
parks. It'll be fun. Frisbee afterwards, possibly a picnic.
E-mail me if you can go * Meeting at 9:30 am in the APO Office w20-415
Saturday, September 18 : CASPAR
CASPAR is a Cambridge shelter for the homeless. It's the only one that
will deal with homeless people who are intoxicated. We'll be serving
lunch and doing miscellaneous cleaning and odd jobs.
Project chair still needed * Meeting at 10:20 am in the APO office w20-415
Sunday, September 26 : Rosie's Place
We'll be doing the dinner shift at Rosie's Place, a Boston shelter for
women.
Project chair still needed * Tentatively meeting at 4:30 pm in the APO office
Saturday, October 2 : Greater Boston Food Bank (tentative)
GBFB needs people to sort food and check that it is safe to eat. The food
is distributed to many of the shelters and kitchens in the Greater Boston
area.
Project chair still needed * They'll tell us soon whether they need people
for morning or afternoon
Friday & Saturday, October 8-9 : Chapter Weekend I
We'll be going out to Camp Resolute (a boy scout camp about an hour away)
and doing work there. We'll have a cabin to stay overnight, though you
don't have to go for the whole time, and we cook meals and such. It's fun.
It's also a great way to meet people, get away from MIT for a day, and
learn about tools. Monday is a holiday, so don't worry about getting behind.
Contact ajw@mit.edu for information * Leaving at various times
Sunday, October 17 : Habitat for Humanity
Another great opportunity to learn about tools...we'll be doing construction
of some sort, though they haven't told me what at this point.
Project chair still needed * Don't know what times yet
