Summary: Project, Waltham Farms, Saturday May 8th, 1pm-5pm,
meeting in the office. A chance to play in the mud.

So, we've got a project coming up at Waltham Farms on
Saturday, May 8th, in the afternoon. Exact times will
depend on exactly how transport works out, but I expect us
to meet in the office around 1pm, take the T to Alewife (I
think), get a ride from there, and get back to campus by
5pm.

For those of you who don't know, Waltham Farms is a
community farm that does a couple of different things. They
act sort of as a co-op garden, so that people in the
community who work there regularly get fresh produce, and
they also donate food to soup kitchens and such. Kids from
the girl scout camp across the street also have a little
garden there. It's a very cool place.

From our perspective, it's cool because we're helping them out,
but also because it's a little chance to get away from it all.
It feels like you're out in the middle of the country, helping
on a farm. :-) They also sometimes let us bring back a little
of whatever vegetables are in season, but no guarantees (this
is more planting time, not harvesting time, I think).

We'll probably be helping with planting, and like always I'd
recommend bringing drinking water, a hat, and some sunscreen.
(I'll see if we can bring some water or bug juice or something
so that people don't dehydrate if they forget.)

I'll ask for volunteers again once I've got more definite times,
but wanted to ask now. Even though this is a busy time of year,
consider it a good excuse to punt a little bit. :-) Manual
labor in the middle of the country is lot more relaxing than
physics, calculus, circuits, or just about anything else. And
the project's in the afternoon, so you don't even have to get
up early.

Email me if you want to go. I'll also try to get a sign-up
sheet to the office by sometime this evening.

Yours in Leadership, Friendship, and Service,

Sara
