Cape May, NJ is a little resort town at the very southern tip of New
Jersey. I usually make the joke that it's trying real hard to get away from
the rest of the state. :) It's really adorable. It has the highest
concentration of victorian buildings in the world (due to a huge fire that
wiped out the entire town during the victorian period).
The reason I bring it up, ya see, is my folks happen to have possession of
this cute (but surprisingly not victorian) shore house 1 block from the
beach in said resort. I spent something like 12 or 13 summers before
college in this town, and I go back and visit as often as possible. It's a
really wonderful place.
Last year I said the same thing, and many of you didn't believe me. A few
people came down to the house with me, and I think they'd all be quick to
back me up. This is a great place to decompress and unwind from a stressful
term.
This year, I would again like to welcome you all to my house between Friday
evening after finals (May 21) and the following Friday (May 28). Let's call
it afterfinals. It's unclear whether or not there'll be an attached service
project, but it'll definitely have a lot of fellowship.
It's approximately a 7 hour drive down. (Depending, of course, on how much
time you all want to spend in Cheesequake). If you're going home for summer
and want to fly, we can probably work out rides such that you can fly from
Philadelphia or Newark without too much of a problem. Lodging is free, but
the town *is* a resort, so food and entertainment are not cheap, just so
you're forewarned. Hopefully we'll have enough cars going to suit the
demand, but there might be gas/tolls/possible car rental to consider. But
this place is really worth it. They have f*cking amazing bar-b-q, kick*ss
hoagies (subs, for those not in the know), wonderful fresh seafood (and
maybe Mel will cook for us again!), and some of the best restaurants I've
ever been to.
Obviously it's a few months hence, but it'd be really helpful if you could
respond sometime soon if you are interested or if you know for sure you
aren't going. Those who reply first get dibs on beds! Hope to see you there!
