The Rules comittee has met and proposed a set of amendments to our bylaws.
Most of them are designed to bring the bylaws into compliance with current
chapter practice. There are however a few controversial ones. As specified
by the bylaws (article X, section I), they will be presented to the chapter
and all advisors (and ExecComm) formally at a regularly scheduled chapter
meeting 2 weeks before they are voted on. To allow discussion ahead of
time, copies will be available in the office, on line
(/mit/apo/AdHoc_Committees/Rules/Amendments), and at CPPC. Anyone wishing
to sign on as a petitioner is welcome to do so on the hardcopy that will
be posted in the office (except for the brief time it will be taken to
CPPC). As a side note, anyone wishing to join the rules committee to
discuss issues relating to rules, bylaws, standing policies, etc, is
encouraged to contact me.
