Hello!
Do you enjoy working with 6th - 8th grade girls?
Would you like to encourage girls to start thinking about their futures?
Then be a mentor for the Keys to Empowering Youth program
next Saturday November 21st from 9 am to 4 pm!
*What is KEYs?
Keys to Empowering Youth (KEYs) is a student-initiated program
run through the Public Service Center at MIT. KEYs organizes
workshops for 11 - 13 year old girls from the Cambridge Public Schools
and greater Boston area. The girls are exposed to the excitement and
importance of higher education through contact with MIT women who are
preparing for careers in science and math-related fields.
KEYs is dedicated to empowering adolescent girls by promoting
self-confidence, increasing their self-esteem, and encouraging them to
consider all different fields of study. Some of the activities that we
have planned include a lab at the Edgerton center, an activity at a rock
deformation lab, and a career-life game.
*Why should I get involved?
KEYs is fun! You'll meet new people from all
parts of the MIT community as well as girls from Cambridge and Boston. It's
a chance to spend the day with the girls and to encourage them to follow their
interests.
