The official Debate on the Nature of Ugliness is tomorrow at noon!
In reality, this means we're going to try to keep it going (ie keep
active candidates there debating for their idea of ugliness) from 11
to 3 (not everyone can make it at the same time). So, the problem:
We have 8 very cool candidates, but it's been so long that nobody remembers
how to block the hall, be psyched, and campaign, so nobody is.
So, my plea:
IF YOU HAVE ANY FREE TIME TOMORROW (and you're not on the UMOC COMMITTEE)
PLEASE SHOW UP AND CAMPAIGN FOR A CANDIDATE. Yes, it's allowed by the
rules. It's for a good cause. Even half an hour can make a HUGE amount
of difference. And if we can show people how it's done (ie that debating
with a statue in lobby 10 can be fun and effective) they'll start doing
it themselves.
Repeat: PLEASE SHOW UP TO CAMPAIGN FOR your choice of candidate
at the lobby 10 booth tomorrow. If you can, please RSVP today
to ugly@mit.edu for when you think you might be able to drop by and
who you'd like to represent in the debate. If not, just drop by
anyway. Let's make this work :)
yiLFS,
Ari
P.S. Current Candidates are:
Vests'd decision on Freshman Housing Carl Dietrich
Kerberos V James Kretchner
UA Sheri Davidoff
Random Hall Milk Boris Zbarsky
Opaque Horizons Marleigh Norton
Transparent Horizons Martin Stiazny
And
Daniel Dwyer
and
Seth Bisen-Hersh
running on their own merits
