YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!! LARGE SCALE SERVICE PROJECT for BSA, and APO has
been asked to help!!! Want to come to Northern New Jersey (the pretty area)
for a weekend long SERVICE PROJECT? Can you , or your chapter help???
Staff and alums welcome too!

Contact CHERYL SMITH - Region 1 Director E:

============================================================================
The North Jersey councils of BSA are sponsoring "JERSEY JAMBOREE"

WHAT IS IT? 10,000 + Boy & cub scouts in one area for exhibits, crafts,
challenges, etc.
4,000 + are staying the weekend, and will see "Daytrippers" -about 5,000+
each day

WHEN IS IT? October 9,10,11 the weekend, OR ANY PART OF IT, is
appreciated!

WHERE IS IT? Waterloo Historic Village, Exit 25 off Interstate Route 80
in No.NJ! Easy to get to from instate or out-of -state!

WHAT IS APO DOING? We are "People Movers", "Greeters", Registrars and Bus
monitors.
	*** Just like Disneyland!!! ***
We are helping to man the bus stops and help load & unload people,
line them up, get them where they need to be in an expedient manner. We
may also be assisting Registration , or acting as a Greeter at the main
entrance to the Village, or answering questions, being helpful etc.
Also, we are crowd control (in addition to Natl Guard, and other staff) for
the Saturday Night Show. [We also are getting the APO booth, and a place
to put it up, for display, and advertising of APO]

What are the TIMES people are needed?
We have set up the following shifts... people needed for all shifts!
(Esp. Fri & Sat. nights)
		Friday Oct. 9th : 6pm to 10 pm
		Saturday Oct. 10th :		8am to 12;  11am to 3pm;
2pm to 6pm; 6pm to 10pm
		Sunday Oct. 11th : 8am to 12 ; 11am to 3 pm
*** OK to split shifts if we know it ahead of time.... Also will get
breaks during shifts.

What are the FACILITIES?
APO has been given use of "CAMP WHEELER" the cub day camp for the weekend..
so we have facilities to STAY OVERNIGHT, both Friday and Saturday nights in
cabins w/wood stoves, plus flush toilets and shower facilities in a nearby
building. At Camp Wheeler, we have (2+) cabins with beds & mattresses for
40+... plus addl floor space (Can anyone bring an air mattress?) and if you
so desire to put up and stay in your own tent there is soft ground areas
around the cabin areas.

What about MEALS?
APO Staffers are part of much larger corp of volunteers staffing
this event (from the bus drivers, event coordinators, natl guard, etc. etc.
) We can get meals in the Staff volunteer mess hall , via a pass system.
THEY WILL FEED US FOR FREE! Also, vendors will be at the main grounds of
the event, or you can pack a lunch, or bring snax etc... for the Camp
Wheeler area.

What about PARKING ??? This is the tricky part!!! COORDINATE WITH CHERYL
IN ADVANCE!
It depends on when you are planning to arrive.
Arrive Friday night; can drive in to Camp wheeler (after 4pm )
Unload car & park it .
Arrive Saturday, will need to park in Main areas, and tote gear to
Camp Village on the BUS System [ Won't need to walk
far with it, but whatever you can carry in 1 trip in 2 hands is
recommended.. esp. if staying overnight.. if not staying won't need more
than a backpack!]
Arrive late Saturday for Sunday; may be able to get into Camp
Wheeler.
Arrive Sunday; park in Main areas and bus to your assignment!

SUGGESTIONS: if staying the weekend; PACK LIGHT, PACK LAYERS!
