Hi all! I just got off the phone with the CCFA contact about the walk a
week from tomorrow, on the 26th.
CCFA == Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, of which I am a
member. This 3 mile walk of the freedom trail will raise money for
research, which indirectly helps me and the other thousands of people
who have crohn's disease (which I have) or colitis (it's similar- is a
disease of the inside lining of the large intestine- it is curable
through removal of the colon)
(warning-next paragraph is a description of crohn's disease and colitis)
Crohn's Disease and Colitis are autoimmune diseases which affect the
intestines. Symptoms are fatigue, arthritis in large joints, decreased
bowel function, iritis, and more that I don't want to think about. the
severity of it ranges from my
case (I'm in remission now- woohoo!) to those that are functional but
sick, those that are acutely ill due to complications (me three years
ago) and there are those with severe cases that make my case look like nothing.
so far- there is no cure for crohn's disease (nor do doctors know the
cause of either disease) so come help raise research dollars!
we want to be at on the steps of the state house (near park street T, on
beacon street) at 8:15 saturday morning. so, we'll be meeting at apo at
7:30 am, to be leaving the office at 7:50. If it's easier for you to
meet us there or at either the kendall T or the park street T stop, that
works too - just let me know to look for you.
We should be completely done by 2 pm.
the schedule is as follows:
arrive at 8:15, set up and register people from 8:15-10 am
10-11:30 : move stuff from start line to finish line
11:30- 2: check people in at finish line, eat FREE LUNCH, and give out
goody bags containing (among other things) T-shirts.
oh yeah- and we all get free lunch and Free T-shirts.
So- make me happy by coming to my project and helping out my
favorite charity.
Please RSVP either to me by email or the signup sheet. there will be a
phone calling happening, so even if you can't go, :( please respond, or
I will call you and then you'll have to come to project
:)
