Hi again,
A month ago I started volunteering two hours per week at a
preschool for homeless kids. The parent organization is called
Horizons Initiative--and I mean "parent" as in "the non-profit org
that oversees the subsidiary org that runs the preschool, as well as
many others orgs devoted to helping homeless children in the Boston
area." Anyway, so Horizons Initiative sells some things, specifically
T-shirts ($10), sweaters ($20), greeting cards, and pins
($Idon'tremember); profits of course go to help homeless kids.
I left their most recent newsletter posted on the Activities
Bulletin Board in the office; this newsletter has an order blank as
well as some pictures of smiling kids, a couple of which happens to
show several of the kids with whom I work. If anyone needs a t-shirt
etc, and wants to help my cause, pls sign up on the blank sheet of
paper next to the newsletter. Also, feel free to take down and read
the newsletter itself.
Also, I left some Grad. Stud. Assoc. forms posted, which ask
for nominations for yearly GSA awards. If anyone wants to nominate a
professor, student, or group for excellent teaching, innovation, or
community service, please also indicate and I will see that the forms
get turned in. Most of the deadlines have passed or will soon, so
prompt action is needed if anyone has ideas.
Take care, in LFS,
Brad L.
