Forwarded with permission. I've also heard some interest expressed
in New York and Maine from other quarters and a different request for a
'cool looking place'. I'm inclined to try for the 28th if there
is sufficient psychedness. Let me know....

I'd prefer March 28 or 29, could do April 4, April 5 is out.

New York City would be cool. I am NOT sufficiently familiar with it to
plan a day there. I was there once and ended up in a dress on the
water somewhere looking for a nonexistent boat. It wasn't
cool. Luckily, I am still alive. Personally, I'd rather not catch a
show or do anything else that expensive-sounding. (Though if there's
interest, fine by me.)

As to someplace elses: there's gotta be somewhere a bit closer. Though
4-5 hours is okay with me I'd prefer a bit closer. It's not amusement
park time yet, is it? (That would be a way cool summer trip IMHO.) We
could do Bean's/outlet shopping (Kittery?), though some of us just did
that, I'd be willing to go again. We could go somewhere on the
commuter rail or the train. (Now where is the question...) We could do
the nice scenery thing in western Mass. or Vermont or Maine or
wherever they keep the nice stuff. We could stare at industrial
wasteland in New Jersey. We could go to Chuck E. Cheese. (though
that's not a day trip. but I want to play skeeball. An idea for a
different day might be somewhere like Star Land - is that the name?
there's an amusement center somewhere around here with skeeball and
go-karts and stuff. Do people like that kind of stuff?) We could open
one of those travel guides to a random place and go there. (Wow, the
birthplace of Wazoo the Powerful, unfortunate advocate of the 75-cent
piece... it does have a kinda cool random aspect to it. Random road
trip. Don't announce/decide where until we get in the car, and all
agree to listen to the tourbook unless there are severe objections...)
We could find the best ice cream in Massachusetts by (semi) exhaustive
search. Or the best strawberries. We could go to Canada - is that
close enough? My geography sucks, but seems to be telling me you can
get to Canada in ~5 hours. That would be way cool. We could do the
four corners thing at the intersection of Mass, Connecticut, and RI
(or Mass, Vermont, NH. Wow, I'm in three states at once.) We could
take a ferry to some island somewhere and just hang out. Can you do a
day trip to Nantucket? We could go down the Cape, stopping in towns
as we go and as they interest us.

Okay, I'm totally impressed you've read this far. Those are my
suggestions for the moment - some actual possibilities. some
not. some exciting. some exciting to no human being but me. some not
exciting even to me. I really need to come up with something better to
do with myself than ramble. I need a vacation. Yeah. Let's go. :)
