So, this may sound a little bit early, but I think if I decide to do that
now I'll actually go ahead and do it, and people might be able to arrange
their summer schedules around it. I was sitting in the office last night in
a daze after elections, chatting with a few people and I said "you should
come to my shore house," and I meant it. And I thought about it. And it
seemed like a great idea! SO! I'm hereby inviting the chapter to my shore
house in Cape May, NJ. (For those of your unfamiliar with New Jersey, to
get there, you go into New Jersey and drive south until you run out of
land.) I haven't looked at a calendar to decide exact dates, but I'm hoping
either the dead week between finals and graduation, or very soon after
graduation. If you have any specific requests, timewise, please let me
know, and before I decide exact dates I'll take your request into
consideration.
It's approximately a 7 hour drive to Cape May from here. I'm guessing--here
to NYC is ~4.5 and NYC to Cape May is ~2.5. Could be more or less,
depending on whether you drive like a maniac, like I do.I was hoping to
open my house for at least a weekend, but possibly a week if people had
interest in relaxing for a week. My hope was that we'd have a couple waves
of people driving down to give people an option of dates.
It *is* a relaxing place. It's not a hoppin' and boppin' city. It's pretty.
Cape May has the high concentration of victorian buildings in the world.
Also, there's *excellent* food there, though the city is a bit expensive.
There's also a lot of history in those pretty little buildings. I could
give a tour, but I haven't actually been on one in years and I always
forget which are really the seven sisters. :)
My house is one block from the beach, has a full kitchen and bar-b-q. There
are 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have 2 twin beds, and one of which has a king.
There's also a lot of couch/floor space. There are 3 showers, too. Woohoo,
clean brothers. The porch is an absolutely lovely place to read or have a
card game.
There's a movie theater and fairly nice shopping in town. Not all too far
away, there are towns with boardwalks and rides and waterparks and stuff
(like 20 mins till you're parked and on the boardwalk). Atlantic City is
about a 45 minute drive, if y'all wanna gamble or get the best hoagies in
the world.
If you want to bring someone who is not a chapter member, please let me
know in advance, so I can be prepared. Um, so. Yeah. Think about it. Let me
know good or bad dates. Please reply if you're interested to let me know
that I shouldn't just drop it. Ok. You've read long enough.
...and they lived happily ever after...
