PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT PROJECT

Friends, Romans, Countrymen,

Keep your anatomy to yourselves. Wednesday, 4/29/97, which is either TODAY or TOMORROW, will be the Cambridge Science Expo, a big science fair in Johnson Athletic Center that we will be helping out on. Because I'm PCing this project, people who don't come and help will get thrashed by my big brother, Elaine "the enforcer" Tso; they also will not get the FREE BREAKFAST i'm making next week.

All you have to do is work one hour from either 3:30 to 4:30 or 4:45-5:45. From 4:30-4:45, PSC will be giving everyone (including us) free pizza & soda. The work is totally cool. We will all work as "Science Advisors," which means we walk around and talk to the kids about their projects. Its a very noncompetetitive thing, so the focus is really on forming a dialogue with the kids and encouraging them and getting them excited about what they did and what more they can do. This is an enormous opportunity to show some bright innocent kids out there that being a science/math/engineeirng person is a very cool thing.

Each kid (they're all 7th or 8th graders) needs to talk to at least four advisors, so we're gonna chat with each for five minutes or so. You're welcome to go around in groups of two or even three or by yourself. When you finish talking ot them, you initial their project sheet. The whole event is pretty casual, but remember: our job there is to support them as emerging scientists. As students at the best science/engineering university in the country, what we say could really mean something to these kids.

So here's how the logistics will work. I will be outside Johnson Athletic Center by the barbecue pits with a big sign that says APO on it from 3:00 to 3:30 and from 4:30 to 4:45. Meet me there and so we can coordinate, you can sign your names, and i can give you the instruction sheets and last minute updates. If you want, you can some get instruction sheets online right now, just check out "Spotlight" on the main MIT web page and the volunterr info section on that page. You don't have to do that thoughs ince i'll have hard copies with me there...and even if you do, you should still come and see me.

This is going to be so cool! Just come even if only for 20 minute or so.

Regards,
Mike Salib
